The partner of a Harold Hill motorcyclist killed in a crash has warned against others riding while under stress in case it becomes “their last ride”.

Tony Jones, 32, of St Ives Close, Harold Hill, leaves behind a 10-month-old daughter after he was killed when his motorbike collided with a van in Upminster on Monday.

His partner of three years, Miledie Oulai, of Douglas Road, Romford, said: “Motorbikes are really dangerous. For Tony, riding his bike was calming and a way to get away. That’s why it was so dangerous.

“If you have got something wrong in your life and want to get away, don’t ride your bike because you won’t be focused on the road.

“For most of them, something happens in their life and they take their bike and it becomes their last ride.”

Tony leaves behind his daughter Tayah following the crash on the junction of St Mary’s Lane and Pike Lane just after 5pm.

When an air ambulance and an ambulance crew arrived the former pupil of Sanders School, in Suttons Lane, Hornchurch, was found with serious injuries and he died moments later.

Police quizzed the van driver but no arrests have been made.

Miss Oulai told the Recorder how Tony had already had one serious motorcycle crash in 2012 that left him “unable to do anything” for almost a year.

“When he healed, the first thing he did was buy another bike,” she said.

“I kept saying it was dangerous and that so many people die from bike accidents but he never listened.”

The incident is being investigated by the Serious Collision Unit in Chadwell Heath.

Anyone with information should contact the unit on 0208 597 4874.
