Shoppers have donated more than 200 chocolate eggs to Havering's elderly community.

The Mercury Shopping Centre in Romford, alongside Lumiere Cinema and event venue, organised the appeal.

Donations were made through a giant "Egg Pod" inside Lumiere at the centre in Mercury Gardens.

The donated eggs were given to residents at care homes including Emerson Park, Portland Close, and Ravenscourt.

In addition to supporting care home residents, more than £700 was raised for King George and Queen's Hospital in Romford and Ilford.

Funds were collected through family-friendly activities, including an Easter egg hunt, face painting, and photo opportunities with the Easter Bunny.

A spokesman form the centre said: "The initiative brought the community together, helping to spread seasonal joy to elderly residents while also supporting local hospital charities."
