Romford's Woolworths stores have been fondly remembered, so we look at what has replaced one after it was announced the retailer may return to UK high streets.
Woolworths could make a UK return, it was announced last Thursday (January 24), after HH Holding chief Roman Heini, of the company which saved Woolworths, said the UK was on his "bucket list" of destinations.
The retailer, which operated for 100 years in the UK, previously had 807 British stores and its closure left over 27,000 unemployed, according to the BBC. It now operates as "Woolworth" in Germany.
Romford previously had a three Woolworths.
The store pictured above was on High Street, and there were two others on Farnham Road and Collier Row Road.

The High Street store, which sat next to the Golden Lion pub on 2 High Street, was in use as a British Heart Foundation charity shop and OneBelow bargain store as of April 2021.
In Germany, Woolworths was rebranded to Woolworth, dropping the "s".
It is very early days, but "Woolies" could make a Romford return if Mr Heini proceeds with his UK-expansion plans.
