Footage taken on a drone has captured the dramatic scenes as firefighters tackled a fire at a home in Romford today.

The fire in Bournebrook Grove took firefighters from stations in Dagenham, Romford, Leyton, Harold Hill, Ilford, Barking and Poplar around three hours to extinguish after they attended this morning (January 19).

The footage shows huge clouds of smoke rising from the property, with firefighters balanced precariously on scaffolding and on the roof of the home.

Officers from the Metropolitan Police were pictured on scene behind a police cordon, taping off the area from the public.

The fire appears to have been tackled from all angles, with the drone footage capturing crews using hoses to distinguish the flames.

Damage can also be seen on the roof as smoke passes in the wind.

A new update from the London Fire Brigade (LFB) confirms another home was caught up in the fire.

A spokesperson for the LFB said: "Half of the roof and cladding on a neighbouring property were damaged.

"Fire crews will remain on scene damping down hot spots for most of the afternoon."

The residential roads in the surrounding area of Bournebrook Road were teeming with emergency response vehicles.

It is believed that eight fire engines carrying an estimated 60 firefighters were dispatched to the fire.
