A gang of eight males robbed and threatened two teenage boys outside a McDonald's in a busy shopping centre.

Metropolitan Police said today (December 18) that a group of eight males approached two teenage boys and demanded their mobile phones last Thursday (December 14).

The force had received reports of a robbery outside McDonald's in The Brewery shopping centre in Romford that day.

"One of the males intimated he was in possession of a knife and threats were made," a police spokesperson said.

A phone was taken before the gang left The Brewery, police added.

The investigation continues, police said, but nobody was injured during the incident.
