A STREET dancer from Romford has made his way to the final round of a national dance competition.

Joshua Onwordi, of Burham Road, Romford, was chosen ahead of more than a hundred other hopefuls to take first place at the Kent heat of the Street Dance: The Search competition, held at Bluewater Shopping Centre on February 23.

He will now head to the KOKO club in Camden, North London with the other finalists and win a place in the new street dance “supercrew” on April 10.

As well as becoming a member of the newest street dance group in the country Joshua is hoping to land himself a 10,000 joint contract, choreography classes and creative management from industry leading professionals including judge Sisco Gomez.

Once the finals are completed the group will star in their very own video and photo shoot before being entered into the UK’s top street dance competition.

Joshua said: “It feels great to make it to the final. We weren’t given any preparation we just had to go with it. I auditioned at 3.30pm and by 5.30pm I knew I had won. I’ve looked on YouTube at the other finalists and fancy my chances; I wouldn’t have entered if I didn’t think I could win.”

He is working on the flips that he felt got him through the heat stages and hoping to end up being one of the top six that get through to winning a slot in the street crew.
