A performing arts school in Romford that has trained stars including pop singer Jessie J is gearing up for its end of year show featuring the best of the group’s talent.

Students at the Colin’s Performing Arts Studios (CPA) are rehearsing hard in preparation for their show called Don’t Stop Believing – a collaboration of musical theatre and popular culture, featuring songs from musicals like the Wizard of Oz, at the Towngate Theatre in Basildon today (Friday) and tomorrow.

College course co-ordinator Katy Morris said that the show will include CPA’s own Olympic opening ceremony.

There is also a section on Peter Pan choreographed by Michael Downing who was involved with the London 2012 opening ceremony.

Katy said: “Twenty-twelve is an exciting year for Britain. We have London 2012 and the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee. It seems like the ideal year to celebrate everything British and performance in musical theatre.”

More than 300 students of different abilities, age four to 18, will perform two shows a day at the theatre.

Katy said: “The students have been working so hard for the past couple of months putting this show together.

“Our creative team has worked very hard and has produced an incredible show full of exciting, young, fresh talent.

“It promises to be an entertaining show that excites and enthuses. If you’re looking for an afternoon or evening of buzz and creativity, then CPA school show is the one to watch.”
