Former Fame Academy contestant Peter Brame is looking to continue his musical renaissance with a performance at the William the Conqueror pub, in Harold Hill on Saturday.

The singer-songwriter, from Colchester, who once dated radio DJ Fearne Cotton, has returned to the music scene with a new album on the way and renewed enthusiasm.

Peter said: “I got into a state with drugs and alcohol for a few years but I got myself sorted and I want to take music seriously now.

“I’m taking a different approach but it is good to still be noticed and I’ve received good feedback.”

Although Peter’s gig on Saturday will be a solo affair, he has also been performing with a group of close friends in his band, Broken Eyes, since 2011 and recently they celebrated winning a battle of the band competition in Clacton in April.

Peter said: “It was a tough competition but we did well, now we’re hoping to get some studio time and record some of our tracks and get airplay on local radio.”

Peter first gained musical recognition for his performances on reality TV show Fame Academy in 2003 when he finished fourth and now he’s aiming for success in the X Factor and The Voice.

Peter said: “I went to the Colchester auditions which are judged by the producers of the show, not Simon Cowell, and it went well.

“I’m still waiting to hear back from them but I’m holding out hope that I made it through to the recorded stages and if not, I’ve put myself forward for The Voice as well.”
