Get your dancing shoes and niftiest moves at the ready, Hornchurch Jazz Club is gearing up for autumn with an impressive line-up.

The event, held at Hornchurch Conservative Club, in North Street, every Sunday, has a reputation for hiring some of the best jazz bands around to come and play live.

And they certainly are not disappointing over the coming months.

Kicking things off on September 30 is the Bill Jenkins Downhome Band, a Southend six piece who play Trad, Dixieland and bebop.

Bedfordshire-based Rance’s Rocking Chair Band follow on October 7, Hot Club with Peter Selars on October 14 and the George Tidiman All Stars on October 21.

The club comes equipped with a dance-floor in front of the stage, which is known to get quite lively.

Those attending should come prepared to get into the swing of things by boogying the balboa, bopping the foxtrot and whizzing through the waltz.

“People really get jumping around when the music gets going and there is always a good atmosphere,” said club regular Douglas Mitchinson.

“I’m very excited about all of the line-up. There is a lot of skill involved in playing jazz; it’s not just guitars wailing around. These guys can really play.”

The night starts at 8pm and admission is 6.
