INDIE rockers Empty Headz could be on the cusp of stardom after talks with Kaiser Chiefs’ label B-Unique.
The six Barking Abbey students, backed by the man who helped pluck Jedward and U2 from obscurity, Robert Stephenson, reveal they met label bosses as they released their debut single, From Before.
Singer Charlotte Burch, 17, said: “The rehearsals are mad.
“It’s a journey, gaining respect through the music industry – it’s amazing. I’m loving every minute of it.”
The band came to prominence in July after winning the Battle of the Bands at the O2 in Greenwich, organised by Mr Stephenson.
A week later they played three of their tunes for B-Unique, the music stable home to indie bands, including The Twang and Primal Scream.
The band are halfway through their first album, having written eight songs.
Charlotte said: “It’s so exciting. I hope more people hear our music and we reach out to many.
“We have a very commercial sound. I hope people will enjoy it. We are definitely Radio Rock.”
They played the Half Moon, Putney, on September 18 and Barking Abbey School, Sandringham Road, Barking, on Saturday to mark the release of their first single on iTunes.
Singer Matt Partlett, 17, said: “We’re making videos, we’re gigging, we’re fully booked until Christmas. We’re hopeful we will be very famous.”
