Number one racer Andreas Jonsson returns as a World Champion

The Vortex Hammers will restart their season on Friday June 19 at the Arena Essex Raceway and welcome back their number one driver Andreas Jonsson as a World Champion.

He helped his country Sweden win gold in the Speedway World Cup, which was the reason for the long gap in meetings.

Co-promoter Jon Cook said: “AJ’s return to fitness and form is terrific to see and this Friday will be like starting the season again after only one home meeting in over a month.

“The weather is also warming up and we’re looking forward to getting back to winning ways over the forthcoming busy period.”

The Vortex Hammers will offer all fans attending Friday night’s Elite League fixture against Kings Lynn a discount for Monday’s (June 22) live home TV meeting against Wolverhampton.

Adult and concession admission for the Monday meeting will be just £10 on production of the match day programme purchased at Friday’s King’s Lynn match.

Cook added: “We appreciate that so many home meetings after such a long break is not ideal and we hope this encourages our fans, who have been terrific despite our terrible form, to be able to attend both meetings.”
