Brentwood Sunday League side Project 10 have thanked their sponsors for ensuring they can compete in 2021-22.

The club were enjoying a good Division Four campaign, with only one defeat to their name and on an unbeaten six-game run, when the competition was suspended due to the coronavirus pandemic.

And as well as thanking the players, club spokesman James Browning admitted the backing of sponsors was vital.

"The problem is the council and FA can't do much to help and all money spent on league fees and ground fees does not get carried over," he said.

"Where we are not playing any games we cannot charge any money meaning we are left in the negative. The players have been great and have placed money in the club to keep us balanced, but scrapping the season again means we will need the players to again put money in the club.

"Fortunately Favorite Chicken of Elm Park and the Fatling of Hornchurch have helped the club and sponsored the team, meaning this burden is not on the players and has secured the 2021-22 season for the team.

"In a time where mental awareness is key, Sunday League football for lots is a great social, training, playing and either going for a drink or food after a game allows people to forget their worries and troubles and enjoy sport with mates, having laughs on the way.

"It has been hard getting through this pandemic and we've relied on players to front the bill for the cost involved. But despite being closed the Fatling have helped us stay afloat and Favorite Chicken has really helped secure the future of our team. Hopefully a promotion run will be on the cards next season!"
