Six-up Nahlik leads Raiders romp

National League: London Raiders 10 Streatham 4
Marek Nahlik hit six of the best as Raiders put Redskins to the sword in their London derby at Lee Valley.
The Slovakian opened his account midway through the opening period, after Robbie Veares had opened the scoring on a Raiders powerplay with Streatham’s Steve Fisher serving a cross-checking minor.
And the home side went 3-0 up with another powerplay effort from captain Tom Davis, after former Raiders defenceman Ryan Giles was binned for roughing.
Veteran Nick Chinn hit back for the visitors with barely a minute of the second session played, but Nahlik struck twice in the space of 36 seconds to complete his treble and put Raiders 5-2 ahead.
Fellow countryman Michal Oravec then got in on the act with number six and Nahlik struck again before Redskins captain Joe Johnston replied with a powerplay goal, just seven seconds into a slashing penalty against Mark Robinson.
Raiders had the final say of the period, though, as Nahlik netted his fourth goal in 11 minutes to make it 8-2.
And Nahlik then combined with Seb Downing early in the final stanza to create the chance for Liam Chong to net the ninth.
Callum Best claimed a third for shellshocked Streatham and after Raiders lost Mason Webster on a 10-minute misconduct penalty following a clash with Liam Rasmussen, before Oravec was hit with a 2+10 penalty for checking from behind.
Kamil Kinkor beat Michael Gray during Streatham’s man advantage, but Nahlik rounded off a fine night’s work with his sixth goal to take Raiders into double figures with just over two minutes left on the clock.
It was the best individual haul, in terms of goals, by a Raiders player since Slovakian sniper Juraj Huska netted eight in a 23-2 win over Swindon in February 2011.
And Raiders will look to complete a perfect weekend when they visit Invicta on Sunday, gunning for revenge after losing 3-1 to the Dynamos on their own ice last weekend.
