Sanders year 10 students Jade and Jake Attfield both won medals at the Wado Kai East Yorkshire Karate Open at the KC Stadium in Hull recently.

The 14-year-old Jade won gold for her individual fighting with scores of 9/0, 9/2, 9/1, while brother Jake team a bronze in team fighting, having recently won his black belt.

A member of the Havering Talented 30 scheme, Jade and Jake have followed their big brother Chris into karate.

At the age of 11 Jade took her black belt under the supervision of Sensei Greg Wallace and since then she has been taking part in competitions all over the country.

As well as winning gold at the Scottish International, she picked up silver at the National finals and bronze at the British International in Glasgow.

Last year Jade competed alongside big brother Chris for the England Midlands regional team in the Banzi Cup Open International in Germany where she won a bronze medal in the under-14 girls’ 55kg category.
