School to play lead role in borough

Following on from their recent success at the London Youth Games volleyball finals on behalf of Havering, Redden Court School are to act as a satellite club for the borough.

Teacher Valerie Hollingsworth recently met with England player Rachel Laybourne, who is going to support the school in their aim of providing high quality volleyball coaching to students.

The new satellite club will take place every Wednesday after school, from 3pm-4.15pm, and all schools in the borough have been invited to attend.

Hollingsworth will run the club with assistance from fellow teachers Jenny Canty and xxx Ingram, who will bring his knowledge and expertise to the sessions.

The first session took place last week and was well attended by Redden Court students.

Year 10 pupils studying PE GCSE will receive free volleyball coaching on the Beach Volleyball Courts at Brentwood Leisure Centre.

Students will travel to and from the venue via mini bus with PE staff and coaching will take place during the last half term on a Wednesday afternoon, from June 3 to July 1.

Hollingsworth said: “A big thank you to England Volleyball for providing equipment and coaching for this group of outstanding students.”
