Pupils enjoy success at borough competition

Redden Court pupils produced some excellent results at the Havering Indoor Rowing Championships at Havering Sixth Form College.

Despite not competing in the event on a regular basis, the Romford school saw first-time entrant Emelia Kendrick finish second in the year 10 girls’ event, where she was edged out by just one metre in the most entertaining race of the day.

Kendrick even attracted the attention of some of the National coaches in attendance, while Elize Bonning was third in the year seven girls’ final.

James Lickford was second in the year eight boys’ race, while Harvey Morement won the year race in fine style and helped to coach some of his fellow pupils.

PE teacher Jenny Canty said: “Harvey was the star of the show. He was a true credit to the sport and Redden Court.”

Also competing among year sevens were Sharif Salem, Michael Clutterbuck and Lucie Ballard, with AJ Jordan, Amy Nash and Alice Dickson in the year eight event.

Daniel Ogoro, Chester Diwell and Holly Nash represented Redden Court in the year 10 races, while Caleb Boateng competed at year 11.
