Swimming gala proves huge success

Redden Court School’s swimming gala proved a huge success before the half-term break.

Over 100 students took part in the event, with students competing in freestyle, breaststroke, backstroke and butterfly races in their year groups.

A PE spokesperson said: “It was pleasing to see so many students taking part and enjoying the event.

“This gala has provided PE staff with an idea of the students who will be able to compete in the borough swimming gala.”

Year 10 students Connor Hartwell, Charlie Roberts, Chester Diwell and Patrick Robinson were praised for their performances, but also for helping out so efficiently on the finish line to ensure all students were given a place in heats and finals.”

Confirmed results of final races will be available to pupils when they return after the holidays.

*Redden Court’s year eight pupil Victoria Long has been celebrating after winning the Thurrock Netball League title with her Brentwood team.

Long has fought her way into Redden Court’s A team and will be looking to help them beat St Edwards when pupils return to school.

A PE spokesperson said: “Victoria has demonstrated excellent determination to improve as a shooter which has been helped by playing netball at a club.”
