Mixed fortunes for netball squads

Redden Court’s under-16 girls will represent Havering at the county round of the National Netball Championships after winning three of their four borough matches.

The Romford pupils overcame a slow start in their first match against Chafford, which they lost 9-6, to beat Emerson Park and Albany.

And they saved their best netball until last, defeating Coopers Coborn 9-3 in their final match to go through.

Redden Court: Scarlett Jacks, Emily Roofe, Emily Diwell, Holly Nash, Lucy Eost, Amy Pinkney, Tayler Martin, Josie East, Louise Banham-Scott.

The under-14s missed out in a high-standard competiting, but competed well in defeats against Chafford (7-6) and Albany (8-6) and beat Sacred Heart (7-5).

Coopers proved too strong on the day, though, as they ran out 15-2 winners but a Redden court spokesperson said: “This was the first competition of the season so the girls can only get stronger.”

Redden Court: Katie Hawkes, Ellie Luxton, Grace Roberts (captain), Nicole Payne, Victoria Long, Molly Eagling, Amy Nash, Angel Norris.
