Sportshall squad finish third in borough event

Redden Court’s year eight boys finished third overall at the Havering Sportshall competition at Campion School.

The Romford pupils arrived early and prepared well, completing a thorough warm-up and spending time practicing their relay change overs and technique.

And the hard work paid dividends during the competition as they ran out winners in several relay events.

The Redden Court students took part in field events first of all, with some promising performances.

James Lickfold won the vertical jump event and Isaac Gee had the same honour in speed bounce, while all squad members performed and scored well in the field events.

During the second half of the competition the Redden Court pupils really came into their own.

With a thin squad the task ahead was daunting, but the earlier practice served them well as the boys showed grit, determination and a great team spirit.

Lickfold and AJ Jordan deserve a special mention for their heroics on the track, but despite several first-place finishes and good performances the boys eventually finished behind hosts Campion and eventual winners Coopers.
