National Y7 Cup: Chatham Grammar 1 Marshalls Park 9

Marshalls Park’s year seven boys produced a superb display on their first competitive outing to ease into the next round of the National Cup.

After a long, excitable journey, the visitors settled quickly and took the lead through Ben Jones.

Park continued to dominate possession on a difficult pitch and extended their lead to 5-0 by half time, thanks to solid performances by Joel Bevan in midfield, man of the match Jones in attack and Jack Glennister and Teddy Penn at the back.

Park added four more goals to their tally after the restart, the pick of them being a far-post header by Harrison Price, after good work in the build-up from Glennister and Josh Holmes, who supplied a superb cross.

Teacher Paul Aylett said: “Rotation of players didn’t weaken the side at all as all of the squad played their partt in a very good win.

“The boys played extremely well in their first competitive match and look forward to a Havering Cup game against Hall Mead at home on Monday.

Marshalls Park: Hazeltine, Fisher, Daly, Bevan, Penn, Fry, Grout, Parrish, Jones, Holmes, Damrell, Glenister, Cutts, Price.
