Essex Cup: Marshalls Park 3 Brentwood County High 1
Marshalls Park’s year 11 boys eased into the next round of the county rup with a comfortable win against Brentwood County High School.
The game was scrappy to begin with, but Park dominated play as Henry Fisher and Alfie Cook looked solid at the back and Jack Leydon was keeping shape well in the midfield.
Adam Garson put Park ahead after some good work down the wing from Toby Stutley.
Garson latched on to his first blocked shot and tucked the rebound away in the bottom left corner.
Brentwood County High could have got back into the tie while it was stll 1-0, but Freddie Whitmore didn’t look like being beaten in goal.
Park doubled their lead when Callum Willis delivered a cross after some fantastic work down the left for Tommy Gamon to head home.
And although the visitors hit back to halve the deficit, Park’s Joel Williams finished the tie when a cross found him alone in the 18-yard box to tuck home their third goal.
Head of PE Paul Aylett said: “There was some good possession play and hopefully the boys can continue their run in the Essex Cup.”
