Year seven boys given bye in National Cup

Marshalls Park’s year seven boys have been handed a bye into the third round of the National Cup after rivals Orleans Park (Richmond) cancelled.

The two sides were due to meet tonight (Thursday), but in-form Park have been given a walkover to the disappointment of teacher Paul Aylett.

He said: “It’s disappointing as I always like to see games through and play as it helps the students development.

“Although this means we have qualified for the next round, it means we will hopefully face stronger opposition in the next round to test how far this team can go.”

The squad will return to action against Royal Liberty in the Havering Cup next Wednesday, when they will look to maintain their 100 per cent record in the competition after three wins out of three.

The year eights take on Bower Park in the Havering Cup tonight and it gives the manager a chance to test some of the year sevens who will play up a year.

Aylett added: “It’s nice to have this chance to play the keepers up. They will get a chance to perform against stronger players which will help them with their performances throughout the season.”
