Y9: Sanders 5 Marshalls Park 1

Sanders School’s year nine boys began their new football season with a fine win over Havering rivals Marshalls Park.

Tauren Henwood netted twice, keeping his cool in one-on-one situations to outwit the Park keeper, while Mac Stevely and Jack Deione scored from long range.

Harvey Stokes completed the nap hand for the Hornchurch pupils with a neat finish from a counter-attacking move.

Teacher James Foley said: “This is an excellent start. What a fantastic result for the team. Well done.”

Mr Murtagh added: “There was a real air of belief once we got the first goal.

“All the lads worked hard for each other and gave it everything – typical of Sanders students!”

Sanders: Vulpe, Haslett, Conti, Okyere, Sargeant, Sheppard, Okutubo, Lawrence, Deione, Henwood, Stevely. Subs: Stokes, Reid, Daniell, Quirk, O’Neill.
