Pupil set to attend third National Performance camp

Emerson Park pupil Maria Boswell is set to attend her third England National Performance camp of the season today (Friday), looking to maintain her hopes of representing her country on the football field.

Boswell began playing football at the age of five and joined boys team Byron Red Star two years later.

After being asked to trial at Arsenal’s centre of excellence, she played with the young female Gunners for two years before moving to the Essex FA’s centre of excellence, who Boswell still represents in London and the South East against the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea and Millwall.

Having helped Emerson Park’s under-13s win the Essex Cup last season, Boswell was one of only 30 girls from across the UK who were asked to attend a two-day residential camp at Warwick University at the start of the current campaign.

And after being asked to return for a second camp at the end of October, Boswell returns this weekend looking to keep her place for the next two camps.

She said: “I am really excited about going to another England camp as the other camps have been a great experience for me.

“It would be amazing to get picked for the England team, but there is still a long way to go till then and a lot of hard work.”
