Year nine squad crowned basketball champions

Emerson Park’s year nine boys were crowned Havering champions after beating St Edward’s in a hard fought clash at Bower Park.

Park led 18-15 at the first break, but St Edward’s turned things around in the second quarter to go into half time with a 27-24 advantage.

The tables were turned again in the third quarter as Park regained the initiative to lead by one, with Theo Legrand and Rajan Sandhu producing some spectacular drives to the basket to keep them ahead and seal a 43-35 victory.

Teacher Alex Reed said: “The whole team had to give it their all after losing to St Eds in the league, but revenge was sweet in the end!

“All of the boys played extremely well and although he couldn’t make it to the game, Kallum Mann was a big part of their progression to the final.”

Emerson Park: JJ Morris, Theo Legrand, Rajan Sandhu, Sam Roe, Jack Morgan, Joshua Roberts, Alpay Nafilogou, Kallum Mann.
