Hockey squads win opening fixtures

Coopers Coborn’s girls’ hockey squads both enjoyed winning starts to their new season this week.

The under-18s proved too strong for their rivals at New Hall in Chelmsford, running out 5-0 winners after a very good performance.

And the under-15s overcame a nervous start to beat their New Hall rivals by a 2-0 marging thanks to a much improved second-half display.

Emily Holmes netted four times for the elder group, with Riva Siggins also on target.

Siggins scored one of the goals for the younger team, with Isabella Purdie also on the mark.

Coopers are set to host Forest School next Wednesday (September 24), and visit Ipswich on September 30.

The under-18s have an Essex Cup tie on October 1, while the under-13 A and B teams play host to Ipswich the following day.
