Sanders School student Beth Jones has been awarded an Essex RFU cap at under-15 level having represented the county several times this season.

Jones, who plays girls and women’s rugby at Thurrock RFC, returned from a two-year break for the 2016/17 season.

Playing in the front row, she has excelled at club and county level, drawing glowing praise from coaches.

Dean White, director of rugby at Oakfields, said: “Thurrock RFC are very proud of Beth’s achievements and to be awarded her county cap and be so dominant in the scrum this season is testament to her attitude, willingness to learn and dedication.

“We look forward to seeing her progress as a county and Thurrock T-Chick to fully fledged Thurrock T-Bird in years to come.”

Sanders year 10 Progress Leader Sinead Nicholson added: “Congratulations and well done to Beth. We are very proud of her – it’s a fantastic achievement.”
