Local clubs on their travels

London Div 2NE

Beccles v Romford & GP

Sean Frisbee’s last-gasp try earnt Park a bonus-point win over Sudbury last weekend.

That allowed them to keep within five points of top two Braintree and Rochford but coach Mark Collins wants to see more focus from his players.

Basement boys Beccles slumped to a 48-0 reverse at Braintree, but Park, 37-0 winners when the sides met at Crow Lane, will not take them lightly.

London Div 3NE

Mersea Island v Campion

Campion captain Luke Maguire called his side’s relegation battle at Mersea “absolutely a must-win game” this week.

But he could well miss the action after breaking his nose in training.

Campion are three points adrift at the bottom of the table after four successive defeats, but egded to a 21-17 win when these two met at Cottons Park.

Newmarket v Upminster

A 23-5 win at Mersea Island last weekend lifted Upminster to eighth.

But the bottom half of the table is very congested and they face a tough trip to promotion hopefuls Newmarket.

Only three points separated the sides when they met at Hall Lane and Upminster will do well to turn the tables in the return.

Essex Div 1

Brightlingsea v Old Cooperians

Six tries in a 40-24 success over Thames earnt Coopers a bonus-point win in their latest outing.

And they will be plotting more success at struggling Brightlingsea as they look to keep a promotion push on track.

Fourth-placed Coopers lie just six points behind Maldon and visit their rivals in a potential showdown next month.
