Defeat for Crow Lane club

Romford & Gidea Park saw their 100 per cent start to the season ended by Braintree at Crow Lane.

The London Division Two North East leaders, after five successive wins, were edged out 17-15 on their own turf and replaced at the top of the table by Rochford.

Campion climbed into a mid-table position in Division Three North East after an exciting 45-36 win over Wisbech, but Upminster slipped into the bottom two after a 23-6 home defeat against Norwich.

Old Cooperians moved up to fifth in Essex Division One, following their 16-5 win over Pegasus Palmerians at St Mary’s Lane.
