Collins wants to continue momentum
Mark Collins wants Romford & Gidea Park to pick up from where they left off before the extended winter break.
Park return to London Two North East action against Sudbury tomorrow, having beaten Enfield in their last outing before heavy snowfall wiped out a fixture at Chelmsford.
Collins said: “We had a decent performance against Enfield and Sudbury are coming off the back of a hard fought win at Beccles.
“But it has been difficult for everyone with games being off and a struggle with training being cancelled due to the cold weather and then water on the pitches [after the thaw].
“We’ve had some indoor facilities to use to try and keep the momentum going and hopefully we can get on the march again against Sudbury.”
Park will be without Lu Sarkus and Dan Harnett, but hope to have second row Paul Washbourne back from a groin injury and could also see returns for Rhys Davies, Taylor Bellamy and Jon Mason in the not too distant future.
Collins added: “Having Washbourne back is a bonus for the pack and we’ve got other bodies to come into the squad still.
“Sudbury are not having the greatest season but are always dangerous and like to play an open game.
“They’ve got a good kicker too in Matt Cooper, so we’ve got to keep our penalty count down.”
