Four tries from Brendan Burgess helped the Crow Lane kids secure an excellent 65-0 win

Romford & Gidea Park’s under-13s produced a wonderful display to see off their Shelford rivals on Sunday morning.

The talented Brendan Burgess helped himself to a tally of four tries while there were hat-tricks for Dave Amofah and also Ben Okonkwo.

Kyian Jeffrey went over on two occasions while Shayden Smith wrapped up the scoring with a solitary try in the 65-0 triumph.

Park had to travel over an hour up the M11 for the game, but the long journey was worth it come full time.

On a fantastic 3G surface, the away side immediately got into their stride and once they were in top gear, Shelford were unable to cope with Romford’s play.

The Park forwards were first to every ball and the backs had too much speed for the hosts to deal with.

After working hard on how they scrum in training over the last few weeks, the Romford forwards saw it pay off.

It allowed the backs to get on the ball and after leading 35-0 at half time, they didn’t let up and secured a superb 65-0 victory.

Romford & Gidea Park squad: Finlay McKeown, Warren Petrie, Albert Puddyford, Freddie French, Joseph Mcdermott, Zack McClenaghan, Shayden Smith, Bobby Morley, Daniel Alden-Smith, Norton Tully, Ben Okonkwo, Kyian Jeffrey, Cameron Tucker, Nathaneal Judd, Brendan Burgess, Dave Amofah, Ryan Buckley, Riley Hattersley, Josh Burgess.
