Under-11s claim hat-trick of mini rugby wins

Romford & Gidea Park under-11s produced a hat-trick of wins over hosts Harlow on the warmest day of the year.

The visitors travelled with a squad of 13 and played some outstanding rugby, showing presence of mind to hold their line across the field and working hard in hot conditions.

The Romford youngsters passed and supported each other well in a series of well-drilled displays to claim three convincing victories, with Freddie French claiming a hat-trick of tries in an opening 11-0 success.

Alberty Puddyford and Shayden Smith added braces, with Kyian Jeffrey, Jayden Theron, Warren Petrie and Charles Stacey also going over.

And Ben Okonkwo’s treble laid the foundations for a 10-0 triumph, with Theron (2), Jeffrey, Stacey, Puddyford and Petrie all adding to their tallies.

Park finished things off with a 15-2 success, as Jeffrey touched down five times and French picked up his second hat-trick of the day.

Smith and Okonkow added doubles, with further tries from Puddyford, Petrie and Bobby Morley completing the Park haul.
