Head coach Reed hopes new additions will see team go up in April

Old Cooperians’ head coach Pat Reed hopes two mid-season additions can aid the team’s promotion push.

Samuel John and Craig Ratford have both returned to the club during the festive break and the duo are likely to feature in the trip to West Norfolk tomorrow (Saturday) as Cooperians return to London Three North East action.

And Reed believes the pair, who previously played for Barking in London One North, can inspire the club to a promotion come April.

“Sam is a quality prop who will bring a running game and also shore up our scrum,” said Reed.

“Craig has played at a high level with Barking, has a level head, good game management and his knowledge of the game will be a huge boost.”

If the duo were to play this weekend, they would no doubt boost Cooperians’ chances of success at West Norfolk.

Both teams are positioned near the top of the standings and Reed believes it is a must-win game if his side want to go back up.

“The game means a lot because of where we both are in the table,” he added.

“If we don’t win, then looking at everyone else’s fixtures we are realistically playing for second.

“The boys are fully aware of that scenario, but we are confident having pushed them hard despite losing at home earlier in the season.”
