St Mary's Lane club won at Maldon, but only scored two tries
Pat Reed believes Old Cooperians may live to rue not collecting a try bonus point, despite beating Maldon 20-8 away from home in London Three Essex.
The St Mary’s Lane outfit earned a second straight win in the league thanks to two tries from Tom Wheatley, while Tony Bly added 10 points from the tee.
By scoring less than four tries, Coops were only able to claim four points for their success.
And head coach Reed hopes that is something that does not come back to haunt the St Mary’s Lane outfit later in the campaign.
“We were happy to get the victory, but we were disappointed with our performance because it wasn’t our best,” said Reed.
“We let Maldon get into the game and disrupt it, but thankfully we were able to get the tries we needed to win.
“We could regret not getting all five points as I think teams looking to finish in the top two will be looking to do that at Maldon.
“It was good to back up the win against Barking, but we know we can improve going forward.”
