London Three Essex: East London 33 Campion 19
PUBLISHED: 14:30 02 February 2018
Campion eventually came away empty-haned from their London Three Essex loss against East London at the muddy Memorial Ground on Saturday.
They fell behind early on when home captain and number eight Dan Bracken claimed the first of his three tries on the day.
Campion hit back while East went down to 14 men, scoring two tries in quick succession and a conversion to move 12-5 up.
Bracken’s second try, under the posts from a scrum, was converted to level it up at the break and the hosts moved 19-12 up after the restart.
A third Bracken try was converted to widen the gap to 14 points, but Campion hit back on the hour with their third try of the match, which was converted, to make it 26-19.
East London completed the scoring with another converted try 11 minutes from time, though, and lowly Campion welcome mid-table Maldon to Cottons Park this weekend.
