Cottons Park club won 17-10 away from home on Saturday

Danny McEvoy was content Campion came away from Canvey Island with a 17-10 victory in London Three Essex.

Tries from Josh Lamont, Mike Underwood and Joe Fennessey saw the Cottons Park club claim a second league win in a row.

And with East London suffering a surprise loss at home to Kings Cross Steelers, the success on the road saw Campion clamber up to third in the table.

Backs coach McEvoy was happy with the end result, but knows the Cottons Park club can play better than they did at the weekend.

“We’re pleased with the win because Canvey Island can be a difficult place to play, particularly in December,” he said.

“We started well and scored two early tries, but we didn’t kick on from there and that was disappointing.

“We wanted to get the bonus point and we’re disappointed we weren’t able too, but we were happy with the win overall.”
