Romford joint-manager Derek Duncan wants to see a reaction from his side as they return to FA Cup action this weekend.
Boro travel to Kensington & Ealing Borough on Sunday for a preliminary round tie in the prestigious cup competition on the back of a heavy 7-0 Isthmian League North defeat to Maldon & Tiptree.
If they can seal their progress they can bag themselves £1,444 in prize money although the losers will still pick up £481.
“The FA Cup is one of the most prestigious cups you can play in, whether you’re non-league or from the Premier League,” Duncan said.
“It’s a great opportunity for us to put things right, one for our mentality in terms of getting back to winning ways, and two financially for the club as well.
“It’s definitely something we’re looking forward to and we’re going to try our best to try winning that game.
“We don’t make excuses, we still have a few players that haven’t been registered yet, so there could be a few changes.”
Romford had an opening day to forget as they were hammered 7-0 at home by Maldon & Tiptree at Mayesbrook Park.
A hat-trick from Brian Ifeanyi as well as goals from Scott Kemp, Charlee Hughes, John Gilbert and Malachi Napa sealed the three points for the Jammers.
“We knew Maldon would be a strong side this year as they have been the last couple of seasons, but to lose 7-0 was very frustrating, and borderline embarrassing if I'm honest,” added former Leyton Orient midfielder Duncan.
“In the build-up to the game our thought process was that this will give us a good indication to where we’re at first and foremost, as well as what it’s going to take to try doing well in this league.
“Maldon were very organised, they have a lot of players coming through from the Colchester United under-23s, so we knew it would be a big test but we didn’t think the difference would that big if that makes sense.
“In football you do learn more from your defeats than your wins, obviously a big loss like that has a lot of learning curves for the players and for myself as manager.
“That is something we’re going to look to rectify in training and in the next few weeks moving forward.”
