Members set National records

Romford Town made their mark at the National Masters Championships at Ponds Forge.

Alyson Fordham set three British records in the 55-59 age group to win the 50m (29.92secs) and 100m freestyle (1:06.63) and 100m medley (1:19.70).

And the mixed 400m freestyle relay team of Martin Lane, Kira Neal, Dawn Palmer and Mark Billyard snatched gold in a nailbiting finish with Long Eaton in another new record of 3:54.96.

David Ebanks, 29, set a new personal best in the 100m breaststroke, clocking 1:06.42 to move closer to qualifying for international action with the Cayman Islands.

Also competing for Town were John Starr, Michelle Curry, Kay Hamilton, David Griggs, Barbara Boxall, Sally Wood, Julie Sanders, Ashley Newman, Keith Oddy and Gary Wraight.
