Trainer has four finalists in Coronation Cup

Mark Wallis, greyhound racing’s current champion trainer, has four finalists through to the final of the Coral Coronation Cup (575m) at Romford, live on Sky Sports 3 on Tuesday.

Wallis, who won the title for the fifth time when edging Charlie Lister OBE and Paul Young in last year’s Ladbrokes-sponsored Trainer of the Year race, won all three semi-finals at Romford on Wednesday and Jazz Tilly (35.30), Hometown Honey (35.26) and Aayamzamodel (35.40) are joined by kennelmate Reel Trickyone in the £5,000 decider.

Reel Trickyone, who ran well just to qualify behind Jazz Tilly after a troubled run, remains one of the sport’s most in-form greyhounds just now having annexed the Coral Essex Vase (575m) at Romford and the Henlow Cesarewitch (550m).

However, Aayamzamodel is sponsor Coral’s favourite for the prize won last year by Rockview Sail.

The field for the Coral Coronation Cup final, which will be supported by a host of open races on the night to delight racegoers given free entry on the night (see, is completed by Tambourine Man, trained by Manchester-based Charles Lynch, and Kim Billingham’s Midlands raider Farloe Smurfette.

Coral bet on Romford’s 9.19pm: 2-1 Aayamzamodel, 11-4 Reel Trickyone, Hometown Honey, 3-1 Jazz Tilly, 20-1 Tambourine Man, 25-1 Farloe Smurfette.

See for further details and big-race form.
