The Coral Essex Vase and the BAGS Track Championship will ensure a busy few days at Romford.

The Essex Vase kicks off with six heats at the London Road venue tomorrow night (Friday) with the likes of defending champion Westmead Maldini among the 36-dog field and Nick Savva’s powerhouse gets the vote in heat five at 9.06pm.

Champion Stakes winner Smiler Jack eyes more Coral gold when his campaign kicks off at 8.50pm in heat four where he should prove different class, Other heat winners are fancied to be Planning (8.02pm), Brave The Times (8.18pm), Blonde Fletch (8.34pm) and Romeo Patriot (9.24pm).

Meanwhile, it’s D-Day for Romford in its BAGS Track Championship campaign when the Essex boys welcome visitors from Peterborough and Yarmouth in the third and final round-robin match at Romford on Thursday (December 6).

Romford (97 points) currently trail Peterborough (126) and Yarmouth (112), but home advantage is fancied to tell in the six-race shootout. The outright winners qualify for the final at Perry Barry, Birmingham on December 6.
