Friday night tips

Fernhill Jess (7.31pm) should ensure punters get off to the best possible start at Romford tonight when one of the country’s leading sprinters goes for gold in the opener.

The Dave Allen-trained flyer won at Wimbledon on Derby final night, putting the likes of Jimmy Lollie and Lil Risky to the sword, and these rivals are not in that league.

However, as ever, a good start is required over this blink-and-you’ll-miss-it 225m trip.

Monleek Jet looks a likely improver, stepping up from graded racing at Peterborough to open class at Romford when he goes for Romford specialist David Pruhs over 400m at 8.02pm.

And Guinness Dusty (8.18pm) is fast when loose and wins if overcoming pace inside.

The Coral On TV Puppy Trophy final is the feature on the card with impressive heat winner Uh Oh Chongo (9.24pm) likely to improve for that effort which followed a spell off, while best race of the night is the 10.26pm where back-to-form Ayamzaman might get first run on Murlens Crash and Nans Turbo.

The closing 10.40pm is also a cracker as old rivals Airforce Newyork and Aero Joker clash, with the former fancied to hold his position into the turn and kick on for Ricky Holloway.
