Marshall’s men face Streatham on opening day
Romford Raiders will begin the new National Ice Hockey League season with a home match against Streatham.
Redskins have strengthened during the summer, having only just escaped the drop into Division Two last term.
The south Londoners tempted Tyrone Miller away from Rom Valley Way and visit Essex on Sunday September 2.
Raiders manager Mick Cahill said: “We had provisionally agreed to start the season with back-to-back games against Wightlink for the Raiders Cup so that we would have a competitive pair of fixtures, but without league points at stake.
“Unfortunately, we weren’t able to do that in the end, so we’re straight into league action and have a tough opening weekend against Streatham.
”The Redskins have spent big and strengthened considerably in the summer, not least by tempting Tyrone away from Romford, so we know it will be a true test.”
Raiders begin the defence of their South East Trophy at Chelmsford and face Invicta, Bracknell, Oxford and Peterborough in another cup event.
