London Raiders saw their six-match unbeaten run on home ice ended by their namesakes from the Isle of Wight last night.

Not since the opening day of the campaign, when they lost to Streatham, had Raiders tasted defeat at Lee Valley.

But they let a two-goal lead slip and saw Craig Tribe’s 50th-minute goal settle the issue for the islanders.

The home side struck twice in the space of 13 seconds in the sixth minute, with import forward Michal Oravec netting both times, to take the upper hand.

But Corey Watkins hit back for the visitors before the end of the opening period and Wight turned the match on its head with a quickfire double of their own in the middle session.

Jordan Gregory levelled things up in the 24th minute and Tribe beat Michael Gray just nine seconds later to put Wight 3-2 up.

And the home side could not capitalise on a powerplay chance when Gregory was binned for holding, before losing Oravec to a 10-minute misconduct penalty.

Another holding call, against Brendan Baird with just 11 seconds left in the second frame, gave London the chance to level at the start of the final period, though, as Mason Webster converted.

But Tribe claimed his second goal of the night from Jaroslav Cesky’s pass to win it for Wight, who outshot the home side 39-24, as London were unable to capitalise on two late powerplay chances.

Rio Grinell-Parke took the man of the match award for London, who travel down to the south coast on Sunday to face Solent Devils on their under-sized rink for the first time this season.

The two sides battled to a 1-1 draw when they met in Lee Valley last month.
