Everyone Active Raiders have revealed two more players for the Legends team to take on the current squad on August 26.

Tari Suwari and Shaun McFadyen were fan favourites during their time in gold and blue and join Richard Tomalin and Jon Beckett on the roster for the showpiece match at Romford’s Sapphire Ice & Leisure Centre.

Suwari joined Romford Raiders from east London rivals Lee Valley Lions midway through the 1987/88 and went on to play in six more seasons, scoring 50 goals and 74 assists in a total of 336 appearances.

Scottish defenceman McFadyen moved south of the border in 1989 and proved a force on the blue line for the next three seasons in the old Heineken League Division One.

After a spell with Peterborough, he returned in 1997 to play for two more seasons, then acted as head coach as Raiders won the EPL Cup in 2002.

McFadyen is the highest scoring British defenceman in Raiders history with 60 goals and 165 assists in his 259 appearances.

Former team-mate Ben Pitchley, who is coaching the new junior teams in Romford, said: “These two don’t really need any introduction. They’re two big guys and two big characters.

“It was always entertaining with these two around!”

Tickets will be on sale during the junior training sessions at the Sapphire on Wedensday (7-9pm).

The latest news about the Legends match comes after players, staff and supporters went on a 10-mile charity walk in support of Saint Francis Hospice on Sunday.

And the club are also holding a special golf day at Romford Golf Club on Tuesday August 21, ahead of a Meet the Players event at Collier Row Catholic club on Friday August 24.

However, pre-season friendlies against Telford Tigers on September 1-2 have been called off due to a clash with fixtures in the National League Division One North.
