Player suffers shoulder problem
Romford Raiders today confirmed Jason Buckman will be out until the new year with a shoulder injury.
Buckman suffered the injury in the 3-2 derby win at Chelmsford on Sunday, after a hit from behind.
The experienced utility man was taken straight to hospital and released later that night, but a return to hospital confirmed damage to the joint.
Team boss Mick Cahill said: “When I hear of damage to an AC joint I automatically think of all the knee injuries I’ve known hockey players suffer over the years.
“I learned today that the shoulder also has an AC joint – the acromioclavicular joint – and that is what is separated in Bucky’s shoulder.
“Knowing his discomfort threshold, if Jason says this one is very painful, I imagine it would have me screaming in agony.
“The good news is, with rest and physiotherapy, there should be no lasting damage but the prognosis is the same, out until the New Year.”
Defending champions Romford have won all 11 of their league matches played to date and are due to visit Bracknell on Saturday, before hosting current leaders the Isle of Wight at Rom Valley Way on Sunday.
