Experienced forward back at Rom Valley Way
Romford Raiders have added Shaun Yardley to their roster for the 2012/13 National Ice Hockey League campaign.
The experienced forward joined midway through last season from Peterborough and helped Danny Marshall’s men land a double.
Yardley linked up well with Marshall and import Juraj Huska, scoring 33 points in 25 games, and said: “I’m happy to be back. I had a bad start last year with injury, but ended the season on a high.
“I was toying with hanging them up in the summer, but after losing the play-off final I couldn’t call it a day on that.
“I’m excited, hungry and I want to win another championship at Romford. With the boys that have already signed, we’re looking good. I’m happy to be wearing the blue and gold!”
Team manager Mick Cahill was delighted to welcome Yardley back to Rom Valley Way, adding: “I think it’s a bit of a coup for Romford that Shaun has agreed terms.
“He could still play EPL and obviously play closer to home but I know how much he enjoyed his time at Rom Valley Way last season.
“People who expect to see Yards flying up the wing are likely to be disappointed, but he brings so much more than that to the team.
“His hockey brain is second to none and Yards will pull out the killer pass or the crucial interception or the quality finish where others might struggle.”
