Marshall ready for MK battle

Romford Raiders began 2011 with a fine derby win over Chelmsford last weekend.

And player-coach Danny Marshall wants them to maintain that momentum against MK Thunder on Sunday.

Before that, Marshall’s men play a special challenge match against Finnish side Hernesaaren Naadat Miehet tomorrow, who include six former Raiders in Timo Kauhanen, Jaakko Komulainen, Jani Lehtovaara, Ville Lilja, Antti Makikyro and Tedy Salutsikj.

But Marshall is focused on the serious business of league points.

He said: “Milton Keynes have been winning a few games lately and have signed a new import, who is doing a job for them.

“But it’s a must-win game for us. Our team is looking stronger now and Milton Keynes shouldn’t be anything for us to worry about.

“We’ll treat them like anyone else, but with Billy [Phillips] back to help us out and Pierre [Wilhelmsson] hopefully back as well [after a recent bout of pneumonia], we should be looking good.”
