Huska hat-trick leads way

Juraj Huska’s hat-trick helped Romford Raiders down Oxford Stars 5-1 in the English National League last night.

Joe Allen gave Raiders a first-period lead on the powerplay, but Oxford twice hit the post before Slovakian Huska made it 2-0 late in the second session.

Both sides hit the metalwork in the final period before JJ McGrath produced a superb solo goal to put Raiders 3-0 up, with their 100th league goal of the season.

Huska fired into the top corner for his second and, after Oxford finally found a way past Romford’s man of the match Michael Gray, sped clear to blast past Robin Lindva and complete his treble.

Title rivals Wight, Invicta and Chelmsford also won at the weekend, as fourth-placed Raiders pulled four points clear of Streatham.

Danny Marshall’s men finish 2010 with a home game against Cardiff on Saturday, before visiting Invicta on Sunday.
