Crow Lane outfit have now lost four times in a row and registered on three victories all campaign

Romford & Gidea Park captain Steve Barfoot wasn’t impressed with their London One North defeat at Ruislip last weekend.

Park travelled to The Club House in positive spirits, despite being on a poor run of form.

But they went down 64-26 to the Middlesex outfit – their 11th defeat of the campaign and the Crow Lane skipper wasn’t happy.

“People just didn’t get themselves in the right frame of mind after the trip there and it was disappointing,” he said.

“Ruislip scored a lot of their tries in the first half and players didn’t listen and we were missing tackles.

“We just need to pick ourselves up now and we need to have a bit more belief.”

Park did score four tries – a positive after failing to make the most of their opportunities in the previous match with Letchworth Garden City.

Ben Lawrence, Paul Bradley, George Robertson and Dan Harnett crossed over to earn Grant Henwood’s team a bonus point.

Barfoot was pleased the players showed some character to keep going and take a point back to Essex.

“Towards the end of he game we got together and said ‘we are not going to win, but we need to get a bonus point’ so pleased we were able to do it,” he admitted.

“They were good tries as well, the defence just let us down to be honest.”

Park are 12th in the table six points above Ipswich, but trailing Thurrock, in 11th, by 10 points as they look to move up the league standings.
