Slender defeats for Marshall’s men

Romford Raiders fell to a pair of slender defeats against fierce rivals Chelmsford and Invicta at the weekend.

Chieftains goalie Ben Clements made 41 saves to lead his side to a tense 1-0 win on Saturday, after Raiders player-coach Danny Marshall had a goal ruled out.

Raiders goalie Michael Gray faced 42 shots and was beaten only by Aaron Connelly early in the final period.

Gray continued his fine form against Invicta at Rom Valley Way, making a string of fine saves before the visitors moved into a 2-0 lead.

Captain Anthony Leone hit back with two goals in 33 seconds to level, but Liam Chong restored Invicta’s lead and they added a late fourth.
